Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) is a week of awareness, activism, and community-building aimed at amplifying the voices of Black Mamas, and centering the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. A campaign that Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) holds annually, BMHW is in April (11th-17th) during National Minority Health Month. This year's #BMHW23 theme is “Our Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy,” which speaks to our strength, power and resilience, and our unassailable right to live freely, safely, and joyfully.
Our week of events concludes with our Meet the Doulas Activity & Resource Fair at Chamberlain Park on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at 2-4 pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Community Partners who will be available to share resources. There will be games to play, free food, and free swag. Families who attend will be welcome to get their picture taken by a professional photographer for free. And everyone can join in a health walk around Chamberlain Park, weather permitting!
All who attend and sign in will receive one entry in a drawing for a prize package, to be announced on Sunday, April 16th via our socials. Register today!
