#BMHW23 Yoga for Black Mamas (& Birthing Parents)
Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) is a week of awareness, activism, and community-building aimed at amplifying the voices of Black Mamas, and centering the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. A campaign that Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) holds annually, BMHW is in April (11th-17th) during National Minority Health Month. This year's #BMHW23 theme is “Our Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy,” which speaks to our strength, power and resilience, and our unassailable right to live freely, safely, and joyfully.
Our week of events kicks off with Yoga for Black Mamas, a class specifically for Black birthing people in Tulsa. This class is taught by yogi Crystal D. Shaver of Flow Inspired Healing. It will be held Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 at 7-8:30 pm in Studio 3 on the second floor of the YWCA Patti Johnson Wilson Center. But capacity is limited; we only have 25 spots. All who register will receive a FREE TBEI water bottle when you attend. And attendees who sign in will receive one entry in a drawing for a prize package, to be announced on Sunday, April 16th via our socials. Register today!
